Five roundtable discussions in various regions of Kosovo, one focus group and eleven interviews have been conducted with women representatives from various sectors such as: business, civil society and government from Serbian and Albanian community whose primarily focus are gender issues and human rights.
In the first phase of consultations, priority issues were identified. While in the second phase, the proposed recommendations for identified issues were validated. In the course of this period, a total of 42 participants engaged in the discussions.
Although, women participants identified a plethora of issues during these meetings, the discussion was narrowed down to two main issues, for which women of all communities would be able to cooperate and advocate towards a potential remedy. The two priority areas which were agreed upon and addressed during these meetings are; a) violence against women and b) women economic empowerment. These priority areas are closely interlinked and require attention in a coordinated manner by civil society organizations and respective institutions.
