Yearly award ceremony ‘Father of the Year’

21.12.2023

This year, like every other year, the annual “Father of the Year” awards ceremony, in which three fathers were awarded. The stories of the selected fathers, and many of those nominated for this award, are indicators that parents in Kosovo need such policies that enable them to have a better balance between private life and work, and achieve equality within the family.

The purpose of this award is to convey the message that parents should cooperate, as well as sharing the responsibilities and their time to look after their children, which will create a stronger emotional bond among parents and their children, respectively the father, also promoting a revision of the model proposed from the government for parental leave. This will enable a balanced paid leave for both parents in order to encourage an active participation, especially for fathers, in parenting.
This year winners of the award “Father of the Year” are:
  • Arben Boshnjaku
  • Ilir Mazreku
  • Edis Galushi

This activity was part of the coalition ‘Koalicioni për Drejtësi Shoqërore dhe të Drejta Socio-ekonomike’  and Olof Palme International Center – Kosovo Programme

The ceremony is organized with the support of the “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Shared Society in the Western Balkans” regional project implemented by Centar za promociju civilnog društva (CPCD), Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM) and Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).”
