Launch of the Analysis on the Functioning of Parliamentary Inquiry Committees in the Assembly of KosovoThe Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) has presented its analysis on the functioning of parliamentary inquiry committees in the Assembly of Kosovo. The analysis recommends:
- amending and improving the Law on Parliamentary Inquiry,
- strengthening the institutional framework
- enhancing inter-institutional cooperation and implementation.
At this event, it was emphasized that this analysis is not merely a technical document, but an important roadmap for strengthening parliamentary democracy in the country. It was highlighted that its recommendations aim to enhance transparency in the work of inquiry committees, increase the integrity of their processes, and strengthen accountability towards citizens. Through these proposed changes, parliamentary inquiries are expected to become an even more powerful tool for democratic oversight, ensuring that responsible institutions act in the public interest and uphold higher standards of good governance.
Close cooperation with the Assembly of Kosovo, with the support staff of parliamentary committees, civil society, as well as with members of past legislatures, has been a crucial element in the development of this analysis. Additionally, comparisons were made with the practices of other countries, with the aim of drawing lessons and offering recommendations that advance the functioning of inquiry committees in Kosovo in a positive and sustainable manner.
This activity was carried out within the framework of the project “Support to the Assembly of Kosovo in Inquiry Committee Proceedings and Legal Drafting,” funded by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
