29.11.2023

On November 20, the Democracy for Development Institute held the ; they are busy with housework. During this Conference, regional research with the same topic was launched, which elaborates on the unpaid work of women in the Western Balkans, in the context of the Care Economy, the contribution that women
make to the country's economy, but a contribution that is not appreciated and not considered as part of country’s development. On the other hand, this research shows how the labor market loses the contribution of women by placing them in the margins of inactivity because taking care of children, housework, and the elderly is considered work for women according to patriarchal norms. This research was carried out in cooperation with the partner organizations Gender Alliance for Development Center(Albania), Center for Research and Policy Making (North Macedonia), Institute for Strategic Studies and Prognosis (Montenegro), and BFPE for Responsible Society (Serbia). This Research and this regional cooperation were made possible thanks to the financial support of the Norwegian Embassy in Pristina, within the project ” “Untapping development: increasing woman’s access to employment”
