07.12.2020

Within the project “Emergency package for beekeeping women of Drenica Region” implemented by the Association of beekeeping women “Okarina e Runikut” six women were supported, by supplying them with two beehives, ten frames and 25 kg of artificial winter food needed for bees, which helped the women increase the capacity of their farms and ease the financial burden of their families during pandemic time.

The main purpose of the project was to support women beekeepers who have suffered great damage to their farms, i.e beehives, during the pandemic. Activities held during the implementation of this project include holding trainings in the field of beekeeping with women who are also heads of households, social cases or war survivors. In addition to training in the field of beekeeping, a training on access to information and documents in local government was held where women were informed on how to be informed and benefit from local government.

The “Okarina e Runikut” was one of the beneficiary organizations of the small grant scheme awarded by the D4D Institute within the project “Data 4 Women – Addressing COVID-19 impact on women’s labor rights” supported by the Balkan Trust for Democracy.
