Presentation of the Findings of the Youth Participation Index

30.04.2026

Yesterday, D4D published the findings of the Youth Participation Index, reflecting the journey, challenges, and potential of youth in Kosovo. Although we are the country with the youngest population in Europe, the data shows that much work remains to be done to ensure that the voices of young people are fully heard.

Key findings include:

– The NEET Challenge: A high number of young people remain out of employment, education, or training. This requires immediate attention from institutions.

– Political Representation: Youth remain underrepresented in political life. Their inclusion is key to a more dynamic and resilient democracy.

– Education and the Labor Market: There is a gap between the academic system and market needs, especially in the ICT sector. A more proactive approach to career guidance is needed.

– Digital Power: Digital tools are opening new windows for engagement, but we must ensure this translates into real social impact.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that responsibility is shared—from institutions to civil society—to create programs that foster talent and prevent youth emigration.
