Launch of “Increasing Women’s Access to Employment” project

On December 14th 2018, we launched regional project “Increasing Women’s Access to Employment”, to be implemented by Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) in partnership with Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC), from Albania with the generous support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy.

Shpend Emini, Executive Director of the D4D Institute, highlighted the challenges women face in the labor market and the need to address the issue with the wider involvement of different stakeholders. The recent findings show that gender disparity is not only an issue of inequality, but also a key factor keeping Kosovo under-developed. Similar challenges also undermine the development in Albania and limit women participation in the labour market. Mirela Arqimandriti, Executive Director from partner organization GADC, stressed that high rate of unemployment, job discrimination, unequal treatment are only few violations reported by women.  In his opening remarks, Ambassador Per Strand Sjaastad stressed that women’s inclusion in the labor market reduces inequality and helps the country’s economic development and that gender-responsive societies are more productive and innovative. He also added that the Norwegian government is a major supporter of gender equality and strongly believes in the necessity of developing the potential of women and men for the overall development of the society.

Linda Abazi-Morina provided a brief description of the actions to be undertaken, both in Albania and Kosovo with the aim of enhancing women’s access to employment. through targeted advocacy in the fight against gender discrimination, promotion of decent work and the implementation of gender-friendly strategies that improve women’s access in the labor market. This will be achieved through targeted advocacy and capacity building, small grant scheme and regional forums.


14 decembra 2018 je lansiran regionalni projekat pod nazivom „Veći pristup žena zapošljavanju”, koji realizuje Institut Demokratija za razvoj (D4D) u partnerstvu sa Centrom Rodni savez za razvoj (GADC), iz Albanije velikodušnom podrškom Kraljevske norveške ambasade.

Shpend Emini, izvršni direktor Instituta D4D istakao je izazove sa kojima se suočavaju žene na tržištu rada i potrebu da se odgovori na ovo pitanje širim uključivanjem različitih aktera. Nedavni nalazi ukazuju da rodni disparitet ne predstavlja samo pitanje nejednakosti, već je i ključni faktor koji čini da Kosovo bude nedovoljno razvijeno. Slični izazovi takođe podrivaju razvoj u Albaniji i ograničavaju učešće žena na tržištu rada. Mirela Arqimandriti, izvršna direktorka partnerske organizacije GADC, naglasila je da visoka stopa nezaposlenosti, diskriminacija na radnom mestu, nejednako postupanje jesu samo neki prekršaji koje žene prijavljuju.  U svojim uvodnim napomenama, ambasador Per Strand Sjaastad je naglasio da uključivanje žena na tržište rada umanjuje nejednakost i potpomaže ekonomski razvoj zemlje i da su rodno odgovornija društva produktivnija i inovativnija. Takođe je dodao da je norveška vlada glavni podržavalac rodne ravnopravnosti i da snažno veruje u neophodnost razvijanja potencijala žena i muškaraca za celokupan razvoj društva.

Linda Abazi-Morina pružila je kratak opis radnji koje treba preduzeti kako u Albaniji tako i na Kosovu sa ciljem da se unapredi pristup žena zapošljavanju, ciljanim zagovaranjem borbe protiv rodne diskriminacije, promovisanjem dostojnog rada i sprovođenjem rodno-naklonjenih strategija koje poboljšavaju pristup žena tržištu rada. Ovo će se postići ciljanim zagovaranjem i podizanjem kapaciteta, šemom malih subvencija i regionalnim forumima.
