Last week D4D Institute hosted European think-tanks, Carnegie Europe (Dimitar Bechev and Iliriana Gjoni), German Council on Foreign Relations (Milan Nic and Nikola Xaviereff – Weckwerth), Jean Delors Institute (Lukáš Macek) and the Netherlands Institute of International Relations ‘Clingendael’ (Wouter Zweers) for a three-day study trip to Kosovo. The group was joined by Leon Malazogu, Marin Lessensky and Lura Limani of the Open Society foundations in Sofia and Prishtina.
The four think-tanks which form the Balkans Hub met with the Prime Minister, four opposition parties (PDK, LDK, AAK & Srpska Lista), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors of USA, Germany, UK, France and 7 other countries, EU Delegation, analysts, Kosovo Serb politicians and civil society, two mayors, businesses and other experts.
The visit gathered useful insights on the changing geopolitical landscape, regional affairs, the formation of a government, inter-ethnic relations, state of dialogue. We look forward to join our European peers in developing ideas how to help Kosovo move forward in its EU aspirations in a collaborative publication. Much appreciation to OSI foundations in Sofia and Prishtina for their support.
