22.02.2019

During 2018, Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) organized a workshop with a focus on the topic “Social Dialogue for Empowerment”, attended by more than 100 participants, young people, women / men, representatives of trade unions, chambers of commerce, business associations and civil society organizations. In this workshop, the ways of advocacy and increased participation of youth and women in trade union networks and the labor market were discussed in detail.

As a result, a document was produced, in the form of a manifesto for the social dialogue, containing all the recommendations given from the workshop, and with which document it was further advocated towards the relevant actors.

In this regard, in order to discuss the issues addressed in the Manifesto, D4D Institute organized breakfast briefings in the municipality of Prizren as well as in Gjilan, on the 20th and 22nd of February 2019. At these meetings, participants were representatives of trade unions, as well as the youth with the main focus of discussion being on the proper representation of the needs and demands of young people and women at work, their integration as a labour force, the role of trade unions in this process, and more specifically the challenges of implementing the Decent Work Agenda were addressed.

This activity was organized within “Social Dialogue for Empowerement” project, supported by EYE (Enhancing Youth Employment) a project of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by the HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation and MDA consortium.
