Gender-based disinformation and misogynistic language represent a serious challenge to women’s equality and inclusion in public life, particularly in political and media contexts. In the digital age, where information spreads rapidly through social media and online platforms,
women in politics are frequently targeted by sexist attacks, objectification, and coordinated disinformation campaigns aimed at undermining their credibility and integrity. This report presents the findings of a six-month monitoring of media and digital content in Kosovo, covering the period from December 2024 to May 2025, which includes the campaign period for the general elections held in February 2025. During this time, an intensification of hate speech and digital sexism was observed, particularly targeting female candidates and Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Assembly of Kosovo.
The aim of this report is to analyze the nature, scope, and forms of gender-based disinformation and discriminatory language in the digital public sphere by providing concrete examples, statistical data, and illustrative cases. Through this paper, the goal is to contribute to public
awareness, improve media reporting standards, and strengthen protective mechanisms to ensure the equal participation of women in political and social life.
