During the recently held conference, the findings of the report “Monitoring gender misinformation and misogynistic language online”—which included a six-month period of analysis of digital and media content in Kosovo—were presented and discussed.
According to the monitoring report:
Words such as “thief”, “rude, uncultured (rrugaçe)” or “illiterate” are repeatedly used to delegitimize female political figures
The discussion also highlighted that women do not face inequality only on social networks or portals, but often also during television debates, where they face unequal treatment, frequent interruptions , and difficulties in being treated equally to men.
This panel was an important step towards addressing the challenges that affect women’s equal participation in public life and in promoting a more inclusive and ethical media discourse. This event is carried out with the support of the “Support to civil society in Kosovo” project, funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.
