11.12.2020

Within the project “Womens Power in Action” implemented by the non-governmental organization “Roma in Action” it has become possible for women and girls of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in the Municipality of Gjakova to get acquainted with municipal mechanisms that protect their rights, where two meetings were held with representatives of mechanisms that protect the rights of women and girls. Within the project, a Public Statement was launched and guaranteed for institutional advocacy on the output of the statement.

The main goal of the project was to build the capacity of girls and women of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in order to actively participate in decision-making and be an active part of the labor market. To achieve the goal of the project, information sessions were held with women and girls from the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities on the development of work skills to become part of the labor market. A promotional spot was realized on the participation of women and girls in decision-making, and an online conference was held on the topic “Communal Mechanisms that protect the rights of women and girls and promote their employment.” Throughout the project implementation, volunteers through brochures, posters and face-to-face meetings continued to raise awareness among women and girls about municipal mechanisms that protect their rights and the possibility of strengthening labor market preparedness. At the end of the implementation of the project a TV Debate was held to raise the issue of women’s participation in employment and decision-making.
