3rd meeting of the Regional Committee for Increasing Women’s Access to Employment

Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) and Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC) organized the third meeting of the Regional Committee for Increasing Women’s Access to Employment on 30 March 2021.

The Regional Committee consists of representatives of institutions, civil society organizations and chambers of commerce from Kosovo and Albania. The main purpose of this committee is the exchange of information and recommendations regarding employment policies, initiating and leading strategies and advocacy initiatives at the regional level which contribute to increasing the employment of women.

In the third meeting of the Regional Committee, the recommendations derived from the previous discussions were presented and the current plan and policies of the Government of Kosovo and Albania for addressing the issue of women’s employment were discussed.

Speakers from Kosovo were: Vera Rexhepi, Office for Strategic Planning – Government of Kosovo, Edi Gusia, Agency for Gender Equality and Drin Haraçia, Employment Agency; whilst speakers from Albania included: Brunila Dervishaj, Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Elira Demiraj, Employment and Training Agency and Ardit Kaja, Labor Inspectorate.

The meeting was greeted by Mrs. Jenny Stenberg Søvold, Deputy Head of Mission at the Norwegian Royal Embassy in Pristina.
