The D4D Institute held today the Launching Conference of the paper “Public Transport and Kindergartens as a Prerequisite for the Country’s Rapid Development.”

The conference addressed two of the most important challenges that directly affect citizens’ lives and the country’s sustainable development:

The lack of public kindergartens, as an obstacle to women’s inclusion in the labor market and to early childhood development;

The need for subsidized public transport, to ensure equal access to education, employment, and services for rural communities.

Participants had the opportunity to discuss these two topics in depth and share perspectives on how central and local institutions can address these challenges.

The presented paper offers concrete recommendations for the government and municipalities, emphasizing that investing in public transport and public kindergartens is not only a social issue but also a development strategy for Kosovo’s future.

This paper was developed with the support of the regional project “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Shared Values in the Western Balkans,” implemented by the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD) in cooperation with the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), and financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway (NMFA).
