Starting a new collaboration with media and journalists!

D4D in collaboration with the Independent Media Commission on September 10th, held a workshop with media outlets where we discussed the challenges of real-time reporting and fact-checking in the media, as well as the need for impartial and professional reporting.

Discussions following the Bridging the Gap  report highlighted the need for transparent editorial policies, greater accountability in reporting through clear attribution and credible sources, and stronger mechanisms to address hate speech. Participants emphasized that legitimate, licensed media are often grouped together with unregistered online portals, undermining their credibility. To address these issues, outlets requested tools and training to enhance fact-checking and real-time reporting, guidance on using digital strategies and algorithms to grow audiences ethically, and support for publishing transparent editorial policies that include IMC and Press Council identifiers to distinguish verified media from unregulated ones.

D4D aims to provide technical support through a joint work with the media in Kosovo. This is just the first step towards a sustainable collaboration with journalists and media. The challenges raised during the workshop are a guide for further actions to provide support so that the media can easily overcome these challenges

This workshop is carried out with the support of the “Support to civil society in Kosovo” project, funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.
