The participation of women in the labor market in Kosovo remains quite low and concerning. Women continue to be discriminated against in employment, with a fairly high unemployment discrepancy compared to men, and their level of inactivity reflects discouragement and a lack of conditions for equal access to the labor market for women.
This publication, which contains the gender analysis of the state of the labor market and the Sectoral Employment Strategy 2018-2022, discloses a number of recommendations for the future Labor Market and Employment Strategy which will be approved this year by the Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfers.
This analysis reflects the lack of a gender perspective in strategic documents in the field of women’s employment in Kosovo and the suggestions and recommendations of the D4D Institute for the incorporation of a clear gender perspective in employment policies for women, with the aim of reducing inactivity and informality, increasing the active participation of women in the labor market, supporting women in the field of agriculture, entrepreneurship, addressing the gender division of occupations, increasing women’s affordable access to child care centers, and the use of affirmative measures to support employment of women in Kosovo.
