02.12.2022

The challenges that women have in business and their journey in this field were some of the themes that were discussed in Tuesday’s Salon with the topic: “Women in business – Challenges and prejudices that they face in the business environment?”

Invited to discuss this topic were: Melita Ymerga, co-founder of “Melita Partners”, Shqipe Breznica, Director of Help Kosovo, and Zana Tabaku, founder of APPDEC. Whiles, this salon was moderated by the moderator, Agnesa Sejdiu.

During the discussion, Melita Ymerga stated that women in business cannot function alone, the problems of women all over the world are almost the same, in general, the best combination of development and making an impact should be studied as much as possible, visited and pushed forward the idea that every woman dreams of. For women, there are two big challenges: the education system, working hours for women who are in the labor market and care for the elderly.

Whereas, Shqipe Breznica said that through her organization, they give grants to women. They are small grants which are in the process of starting their business, and I can say that the last thing is the digitization process, and their training about digitization is a priority.

Whereas, Zana Tabaku emphasized that in her company in the field of IT, 40 percent of the staff are girls. She made it clear that girls are more committed to work. According to statistics, Kosovo has a very large percentage of girls in IT, a percentage that has reached 30 percent. This percentage has not even been reached in America.

This salon is organized by Democracy for Development, which is supported by Swedish Embassy, Community Development Fund – CDF, and Human Rightivism.
