Last week, the D4D Institute held a Tuesday Salon in the Municipality of Lipjan on the topic “The Importance of Digitalization of Public Services in Lipjan: Relevance and Benefits for Citizens”.
The panel featured Burim Gashi, Head of General Administration in the Municipality of Lipjan, and Kastriot Luma from the “Reforma” organization, and was moderated by Bekim Krasniqi from the YAHR organization.
Throughout the discussion it was emphasized the importance of digitalization in improving public services in Lipjan, while focusing on the challenges and opportunities that this process brings for citizens and employees. The advantages of digitalization discussed were reducing the waiting time and bureaucratic procedures, as well as the need for the involvement of civil society organizations in this process.
Whereas, challenges that may arise during the implementation of digitalization mentioned were the internet issues, lack of citizen’s knowledge and the need for software improvement. Despite these difficulties, the panelists agreed on the fact that digitalization offers great opportunities for the modernization of the administration and the improvement of services for citizens.
