14.10.2014

On 14th of October was held the salon with the topic:

‘The face of political patronage in Kosovo: What share of senior public officials have direct links to politics?’

The provoking and information opening was made by: Mr. Lorik Bajrami, from the NGO ÇOHU; Mr. Arben Hajrullahu, professor of political sciences in the University of Prishtina, and Mr. Shkelzen Gashi, publicist. The moderator for this salon was Mr. Fadil Lepaja, director of Centre of Balkan Study, while the op-ed will be written from Mr. Besnik Boletini, from the NGO ÇOHU.

The discussion started with the presentation of the findings of NGO ÇOHU from Lorik Bajrami about the appointment of directors in public institutions based on the political party they belong, and not according to their professional qualifications and open vacancy calls like it should be. After the opening speeches from the panelists, the discussion was open for the rest of the participants of the salon, who expressed their concerns about the ways that certain people without professional qualification won high positions in public institutions, and expressed their desire to change this method as soon as possible, even though they also noted that it would really hard for this to come into fruition, because until now every party that came to rule the government has put their own followers into those positions and kicked out those who were followers of other political parties.
