01.06.2021

On June 1, the Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) held the Tuesday Salon on the topic: “Multiculturalism and Building a Stable System: Protecting Individual Civil and Political Rights.” How much are individual civil and political rights being respected and protected in Kosovo? How much can multiculturalism in Kosovo affect the further advancement of these rights? These were just some of the questions that were asked and discussed during this salon.

During Tuesday’s Salon it was emphasized that a significant progress has been made in accepting multiculturalism in which different communities are involved. Among other things, it was emphasized that multiculturalism in Kosovo is a value, but still remains to be implemented in practice. The recommendation from this discussion was to create a stable system where the state should implement the legislation in order to create more efficient mechanisms, to design adequate policies and to address as soon as possible the cases where discrimination occurs.

Part of the panel in this salon were: Shemsi Krasniqi, Professor, Faculty of Philosophy – UP; Arber Selmani, Journalist and Expert in the field of communication and Florent Muçaj, Vice Dean for Teaching and Quality Issues, Faculty of Law – UP. The salon was moderated by Ferdi Kamberi, Sociologist, from whom the editorial will be written.

This Salon was supported by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS).
