How do non-governmental organizations assess the level of transparency and accountability in the Municipality of Podujeva? This was the topic discussed in last week’s Tuesday Salon in the Municipality of Podujeva.
To discuss this topic, the panel guests were: Marigona Lahu, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Podujeva, and Besnik Muçaj, Program Manager at the Kosovo Institute for Local Government. The salon was moderated by Genc Rashiti, Executive Director at EDU Courses.
During the salon, the discussion focused on improvements and challenges in transparency, emphasizing that municipalities need to be more transparent in publishing documents and information for citizens. The discussion also included the need for stronger mechanisms to involve citizens in decision-making processes and to improve transparency in order to create a more engaged and informed society.
In the end, the importance of collaboration between civil society and institutions was highlighted, with agreement that the engagement of citizens and their representatives in governance processes must be improved.
**The salon was organised by The Democracy for Development Institute within the framework of the project “Citizen participation 4 better decisions”, supported by the Small Grant Facility programme of WeBER 3.0 project, implemented in Kosovo by Group for Legal and Political Studies and funded by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency.
