Good Governance: Are Gender Equality and Youth Policies being respected in Mitrovica?

11.06.2019

Improving transparency, accountability, inclusiveness and identifying citizens’ opportunities to be part of the decision-making and policy making processes were some of the points on which the salon discussion “Good Governance: Are Gender Equality and Youth Policies being respected?”, was held. This salon was organized by the Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) in the Municipality of Mitrovica.

During this discussion it was emphasized that the lack of youth and women in public discussions is one of the problems faced by the Municipality of Mitrovica, thus resulting in their insufficient engagement in decision- and policy- making processes. Therefore, they sought a greater civic engagement and highlighted that the citizens should be more engaged in seeking accountability from the governing institutions.

Part of the panel in this salon were: Faruk Mujka, Vice-Mayor, Municipality of Mitrovica; Tafil Peci, Director, Culture, Youth and Sport Directorate, as well as Besa Veseli, Officer for Gender Equality, Municipality of Mitrovica while moderated by Miradin Bajri, Manager, Diakonie Youth Center

This discussion was organized within the framework of “Increased participation for good governance” project with financial support of Embassy of the Netherlands in Kosovo.
