The coexistence of the Covid-19 pandemic with seasonal flu: How much treatment capacity do we have?

The Institute for Democracy for Development (D4D), on Tuesday, September 29, held a salon on the topic “The coexistence of the Covid-19 pandemic with seasonal flu: How much treatment capacity do we have?“.

The panelists of this salon discussed the risks of the coexistence of the already known Covid-19 virus and seasonal flu, calling for increased care by citizens in order to prevent infection.

As every other year, the seasonal flu appears in the period when the temperatures start to fall, but this year it is being given more importance due to the similarity of the symptoms with those of the Covid-19 virus. Within this topic, the panelists of this salon discussed the vaccination capacities for seasonal flu, with special emphasis on the groups that are risked by this. Keeping a mask, personal hygiene and social distance were the main messages from the panelists on preventing seasonal flu infection as well as the Covid-19 virus.

Part of the panel in this salon were: Lul Raka, Professor of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Prishtina and Besim Kodra, Program Manager, Patients’ Rights Association in Kosovo. The salon was moderated by Arbreshë Uka, Journalist, Klan Kosova, from which the editorial will be written.
