30.06.2020

Facilitating access to finance, subsidizing wages, postponing business taxes, stimulating aggregate demand are some of the measures included in the new economic recovery package that were discussed during Tuesday Salon on the topic: “Challenges after pandemics: What does the new economic recovery package include and how will it affect?”.

The closure we have had in recent months has had a major impact on reducing economic activity and consequently on the overall consumption of the population which will undoubtedly have its consequences on economic growth.

In times of pandemic despite business opening and reduction of prices, panelists emphasized that there has been no increase in consumption if this is seen in the effect of budget revenues. The measures included in the new package for economic recovery are positive measures and measures that have been requested by businesses which will undoubtedly have a positive effect. The implementation and monitoring of this package should not be delayed because it will lose its meaning.

During the discussion it was recommended that there are three elements that should be implemented during this period: the measures of the package, the facilitation of the implementation of these measures and their achievement within a time factor in order to maximize benefits for businesses.

Part of the panel in this salon were Berat Rukiqi, Chairman, Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Valmira Rexhëbeqaj, Economist. The moderation and writing of the editorial were done by Majlinda Aliu, Journalist of Economics at RTK.

This Salon was supported by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Prishtina Office.
