‘What do children learn in school about gender roles?

The Tuesday Salon of December 1st was held, on  ‘What do children learn in school about Gender Roles’ was discussed. The panel consisted of Linda Gusia, Sociologist, Valon Nushi, Coordinator at PEN and Petrit Tahiri from KEC.

Participants raised the concern regarding the content of the textbooks for pupils at elementary school as well as high school.The Panelists considered these textbooks as discriminatory, sexist and non-traditional, thus resulting with gender stereotypes and poor critical thinking.In addition, the visual aspect was discussed as concerning. The majority of pictures in textbooks show men in dominant roles.
