During the period of September 13–19, 2025, Democracy for Development (D4D), through the Pikasa platform, monitored online portals and social media to analyze trends in hate speech and candidate mentions during the local election campaign. The data show that the highest number of hate speech comments directed at political parties was identified against LVV with 494 cases, followed by the Serbian List with 373 and PDK with 261.
At the level of mayoral candidates, the highest volume of hate speech was directed at Faton Peci with 3,758 comments (11%), Sami Lushtaku with 1,927 comments (13%), and Lulzim Hetemi with 281 comments (9%). These figures highlight the challenges faced by candidates in dealing with incitement and divisive language throughout the campaign, particularly in digital spaces.
In terms of media coverage, Përparim Rama leads with 265 articles, followed by Uran Ismajli with 217 and Faton Peci with 171. Their presence in media indicates public interest and the relevance of these candidates in the political discourse during the campaign, while the combination of data on hate speech and media mentions helps build a more complete picture of political communication in online spaces.
