Monitoring of Online News Portals during the 2025 Local Election Campaign – Week Three

03.10.2025

During the period of September 27 – October 3, the Pikasa platform monitored hate speech and the media coverage of candidates in online media and social networks during the 2025 local election campaign. The data shows that the Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) was the political entity with the highest number of hate speech comments (247 comments), followed by the Srpska Lista and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).

In terms of media coverage, the three most-mentioned candidates in articles were Uran Ismaili with 520 articles, Përparim Rama with 473 articles, Arbër Ismajli with 224 articles. The pie charts illustrate the distribution of these mentions across different media outlets, highlighting that some portals such as Front Online, Gazeta Express, and Rajoni Press have played an important role in shaping the media narrative about the candidates.

A new element this week is the inclusion of data on the media coverage of female candidates for mayor. The results show a low level of mentions for Besa Shahini (53 articles), Xhevahire Izmaku (31 articles), and Flutura Hamza (11 articles), reflecting the significant gap in media visibility for women compared to male candidates in the electoral race.
