Women on the Lists of Political Subjects for Parliamentary Elections, throughout the years:

The Democracy for Development Institute (D4D), for several years now, has been encouraging political parties to compile electoral lists in accordance with the Law on Gender Equality.

However, even in the general elections of 2025, the political subjects have only respected the minimum criterion of fulfilling the gender quota (30%) for the less represented gender.

Lists of political entities are represented as follows:

Vetëvendosje movement compared to 2021, has decreased by 7%;

The Democratic Party of Kosovo, compared to 2021, has increased by 1%;

The Democratic League of Kosovo is equally represented with 33%;

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo recorded a decrease of 2%.

The D4D Institute again invites all political subjects to continue the cycle of the election process to offer equal space for men and women, involvement in the election campaign and participation in televised debates.

The gender composition of the electoral lists of political entities remains only in compliance with the quota!

Why don’t more women run for political office in our country?
