Breakfast Briefing with councilors of Municipal Assembly of Mitrovica

In comparison with the previous mandates, the current government of the Municipality of Mitrovica, the legislative as well as the executive bodies have had visible improvements, but with space for more improvement, was one of the conclusions that came out of the informal “breakfast briefing” meeting with Municipal Councilors of the Municipality of Mitrovica, organized by Democracy for Development institute (D4D) on April 17th.

The purpose of these informal meetings is the discussion about Mitrovica Municipality’s policies on improvement of a good governance principals, Municipal Assembly work and cooperation between groups of politic parties to push forward projects that address the requirements, concerns and needs of the citizens they represent.

The representatives of the political parties in the Assembly of Mitrovica Municipality emphasized that the current governing coalition has managed to achieve a great work since taking the helm, by continuously working to improve the good governance and its principles, but without leaving aside the critics about the not so good accountability by the executive body. In another note, it was emphasized that some of the municipal councilors are actively monitoring and seeking accountability from the executive body, while some of them even request periodic reports from the directors of directorates of the Municipality of Mitrovica.

Also, the political party representatives expressed their readiness to cooperate more in pushing forward important policies for the community of the Municipality of Mitrovica, and together to hold accountable the executive body of the Municipality for a better local governance.

These meetings are organized within the “Increased participation for good governance” project, implemented by the Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) with support from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kosovo.
