Media Literacy and Digital Sustainability: A Challenge and a Necessity of Our Time!

09.07.2026

The Democracy for Development (D4D) held a launching conference focusing on Media Literacy and Digital Sustainability.

In this era of rapid digitalization, where information spreads in seconds, the ability to filter and analyze it is no longer just an extra skill, it is a vital necessity, just as important as reading and writing.

At this event, we had the honor of welcoming high-level representatives and strategic partners, including: the Chargé d’Affaires from the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mr. Eric Dietz; the Resident Representative of LuxDev, the Luxembourg Agency for Development Cooperation; and representatives from public institutions, civil society, and teachers.

During the discussion, the need to train both students and teachers in media literacy was highlighted. Educating younger generations and training teachers to become facilitators of media literacy must be a top priority for educational institutions. Furthermore, teachers play a key role in encouraging critical thinking among young people to help them navigate the digital world.

During the conference, the Third Report on Monitoring Online Media and Social Networks for Hate Speech and Gender-Based Disinformation was also published, a vital initiative strongly supported by #LuxDev.

We thank all the participants for their contribution and inspiring discussions!

This conference is carried out with the support of the “Support to civil society in Kosovo” project, funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by LuxDev – Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.
