Transparency and Accountability: How to Ensure Decision-Making Information is Accessible to the Public? This was the topic discussed during the Tuesday Salon.Invited to the panel to discuss this topic were Arbëreshë Kryeziu Hyseni, Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Transparency Forum; Valdete Berisha Murina, Senior Reporting and Information Officer; Donjeta Ismajli, Chairwoman of the Municipal Transparency Forum; and Amir Jakupi, Organization ‘Fortesa’.

During this discussion, it was emphasized how institutional support has impacted easier access to public documents and parliamentary sessions. This transparency benefits not only political parties but also the state and the citizens of Kosovo.

Public forums have massively increased transparency and accountability with tools such as raising awareness of key issues, especially for budget hearings. Requests and complaints from civil society have consistently received responses, ensuring adherence to the legal deadlines for accessing public documents. Most importantly, municipalities are encouraged to go directly to communities rather than the other way around, ensuring that this information is publicly accessible to every citizen, wherever they are.

The activity was organized in coordination with the Parliamentary Transparency Forum in the Assembly of Kosovo, as part of the ‘Open Parliament Week.’
