27.05.2022

On April 13, the Youth Salon was held in the Municipality of Podujeva with the theme: “The impact of the pandemic on the youth of Podujeva: Challenges for access to the labor market.”

Part of the panel were: Marigona Lahu, Deputy Mayor of Podujeva, Donjeta Sheqiri, assembly member of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), in the Municipal Assembly of Podujeva and Florida Kadriu, civil society activist in Podujeva.

During this discussion it was emphasized that the youth of Podujeva is lacking the initiative to engage in various activities, in addition it was emphasized that the responsible institutions are not doing enough for the advancement of youth.

Marigona Lahu, deputy mayor has shown that in the center for social work are calling those who need work, there are some professions that young people are looking for but she stressed that since the pandemic will end soon will be invested in laboratories and technology development it is also planned to hold competitions between school students. Lahu gave details about the laboratory where he showed that in the business incubator is intended for young people where there will be opportunities for young people to develop their ideas, training will be held. She also stressed that the most demanded jobs in Podujeva are about employment in the administration and that the labor market in Podujeva does not require such a thing.

Whereas, Donjeta Sheqiri from LDK has stated that there is no development policy that has been made for young people in recent years. Not many young people after graduation have found themselves after graduation and the biggest insistence has been to recognize your internship as work experience, in our country employment is challenging because we have more private companies that mostly focus on hiring only men, and the worst is that more young people are focused on finding mostly a state job

Whereas, Florida Kadriu as an activist has emphasized that each government has tried to do the best for its country, our young people are interested in engaging in activities in which case the Youth Council is involved. She also pointed out that the pandemic has made students even more lazy and has had a negative impact as their interest has fallen sharply.
