What should the role of the international community in Kosovo be?

22.03.2016 D4D

On Tuesday, March 22, the topic of the Salon was: How has the international involvement influenced Kosovo’s political culture? To what degree has Kosovo developed a relationship of dependence? What role should the international community play during the current political crisis?

Opening remarks were delivered by: H.E. Marija Kapitanovic, Ambassador of Croatia to Kosovo, and H.E. László Márkusz, Ambassador of Hungary to Kosovo. Panelists said Serbia’s controversial statehood is the main problem around which international interference is burdened, but also affects Kosovar self-confidence in creating processes and guiding them. Kosovo has been imposed a lot of solutions that were initially considered to be temporary, but that today continue to affect Kosovar politics within a circle of political disability and dependence on the international community.

The Salon was moderated by Besa Luzha, Project Coordinator, FES Prishtina, and the op-ed will be written by Arben Qirezi, Political Expert.

This salon was organized in cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).
