Parental Leave: Does it help gender equality?

On 7 November, in Gjilan was held the salon on the topic “Parental Leave: Does it help gender equality?”. Invited as panelists were: Burim Korqa, Project Manager – Kosovo Center for Business Support (KCBS), Ziadin Hasani, Pediatrician – Gjilan Regional Hospital and Majlinda Ibrahimi, Psychologist, Day Care Center – Pema.

Although parental leave opinion is different among participants, but they emphasize the importance that women should be allowed to become active in the labor market at the same level as men. Policies should be favored that allow equal sharing of responsibilities between parents. It is also important to recognize both parents should have the right in parental leave so that they are not obligated to choose, but both are equal important to be part of the development and growth of their children.

This salon is part of the “Parental Leave for gender equality” project, implemented by Democracy for Development, funded by the Olof Palme International Center and supported by the Swedish Government.
