20.09.2024

The Tuesday Salon was held with the topic: “Politics and Youth: Where Debate Stops and Hate Speech Begins?”, in the Municipality of Vushtrria.

Invited to the panel to discuss this topic were: Drita Dibrani, Member of the Youth Leadership of Vetëvendosje, and Vlerë Tahiri, Chairwoman of the Democratic Youth. The salon was moderated by Lirim Kosumi, Project Coordinator at Hareja Youth Center.

During the discussion, the rise of hate speech on social networks was highlighted, where political debates often convey this language. The importance of media education was emphasized, with the suggestion to include it as a subject in schools. The transition from debate to hate speech occurs due to a lack of arguments, resulting in insults and labeling

This salon is organized with the financial support of the European Union within the project “Countering Discrimination, Hate Speech and Gender-Based Violence”. The content of this publication is the responsibility of Advocacy Training and Resource Center – ATRC, Internews Kosova and D4D and in no way can be considered as the position of the European Union.
