On Tuesday, June 21st, the topic of the Salon was: How many young people today are individualists? How does the social environment influence their development and are they being educated to be creative and independent?

Opening remarks were delivered by: Mimoza Kusari-Lila, Mayor of the Municipality of Gjakova, Butrint Batali, Managing partner, INOVA Consulting, Lekë Zherka, Executive Director at BONEVET, and Andi Batusha, President of Youth Action Council in Gjakova. At Salon it was said that young people are responsible for their situation. The reason for this is passivity and laziness. If the youth were active, their actions would increase their well-being. It is true that not all actions are successful in boosting welfare, but with persistence and little luck success is inevitable. Also, no one is born all-knowing or resourceful. Knowledge and skills are taught and therefore vital to young and inexperienced people to be active in volunteer work and work at lower levels.

The salon was moderated by Arbër Xharra, Coordinator of the Youth Center in Gjakova, and the op-ed was written by Dren Pozhegu, Researcher.
