The Democracy for Development Institute in collaboration with the Forum for Parliamentary Transparency, as part of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, held the Tuesday Salon with the theme: “Beyond free movement without visas in the membership of the Council of Europe. What obligations await Kosovo?”

Invited to discuss this topic were: Rrezarta Krasniqi, Head of the Commission for European Integration; Jeton Zulfaj, Political Advisor from the Prime Minister’s Office, and Bekim Sejdiu, Professor at the University of Pristina. The Salon was moderated by Jeta Loshaj, Program Manager, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Prishtina.

During this salon, it was emphasized that Kosovo has fulfilled all the criteria for Council of Europe membership and that it has the best ranking in the index that addresses the rule of law and democracy. Furthermore, with Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe, it will be a decision-making state within the Council of Europe, which means that it will become part of political decision-making and should normally have decision-making capacities.

This discussion has been organized with the support of the “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Shared Society in the Western Balkans” regional project implemented by Centar za promociju civilnog društva (CPCD), Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM) and Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).”
