Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) organized a meeting between membership organizations and political representatives of the municipality of Gilan.

The risen concerns in this meeting will be forwarded to the mayor of Gilan, for which solutions will be offered from the respective municipality. Some of the concerns that were risen from the MBO representatives were about the financial support from the Municipality of Gilan, giving grants and access to those for anyone, without discrimination. They demanded a more adequate transparency from the municipality institutions. Their concerns and demands also touched the agriculture field, where it was stressed the lack of irrigation canals for their farming fields. One of their demands was also for the municipality of Gilan to provide with farming tools and machines.

Also, it was mentioned that on the case of the youth, the Youth Action Council did come up with a strategy for youth, culture and sport, which was sent to the Assembly of Gilan for approval, but so far it never passed.

The education field was also discussed in the meeting, where the primary concern was the quality of education and job vacancies, where one of their demands was to do a labor market research and offer adequate fields of studies in the Faculty of Gilan for those fields that need labor force.

Their concerns were also about the children with Down Syndrome in the municipality of Gilan, which included: lack of an office in their municipality, lack of support for those children that are undergoing lower level of education, and the need for a special caretaker for the children with special needs in schools.
