“The Gap Between Qualifications and Employment of Young Women: Why Do Many Young Women with Higher Education Continue to Face Unemployment, and What Structural, Institutional, and Social Factors Prevent Their Skills from Being Utilized in the Labor Market?” was the topic discussed this Tuesday at the Tuesday Salon organized by the Democracy for Development Institute.

To discuss this topic, invited to the panel were: Xhavit Rexhaj, Professor at AAB College; Judita Krasniqi, Professor at the International Business College (IBCM) and Rrona Zhuri, Research Coordinator at the GAP Institute. Meanwhile, the discussion was moderated by Vjosa Ademi, Professor at the Hasan Prishtina University.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that, despite their high level of education, many young women continue to face difficulties in finding work. The mismatch between the qualifications they acquire and the demands of the labor market, as well as the lack of opportunities for practical experience, was discussed. It was also emphasized that structural and social factors, such as gender stereotypes and discrimination that appears in job advertisements, affect the fact that their skills are not valued and not used properly, especially in higher positions.

This salon was organized with the support of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Kosovo
