24.05.2017 D4D

On Wednesday May 24th 2017, Salon was held in Prizren with the topic: “Shared Parental Leave: Are Men Willing to Share This Responsibility?”

The informative and provocative opening remarks were delivered by: Jusuf Azemi, Chairman, Private Sector Trade Union, who stressed the work that syndicate does in this regard. He said unions do not have a stand against parental leave from both parents. But the problem lies in how the payment for both will be regulated and the state to get a greater responsibility. Drita Grazhda from the Association of Craftsmen/women and Businessmen/women in Prizren spoke about the responsibility women have. This should be changed because the responsibility of children must be shared by both parents. Enes Toska of EC Ma Ndryshe as a role model for other dad’s emphasized the importance of men to be closer to their children. He also mentioned that men are willing to share this responsibility but neither the legal framework nor the payment method is regulated, so it makes it harder.

This salon was moderated by Ellza Alija, Kosovo Democratic Institute, while the editorial was written by Tringa Kasemi, FemAktiv.
