Proud but unsupported: Bafta, Oscar, what else does this country need to support its talents?

On Tuesday, 28th of February, a Tuesday Salon was held under the topic: “Proud but unsupported: Bafta, Oscar, what else does this country need to support its talents?”

Opening remarks were delivered by: Blerta Zeqiri, Head of the Board, Kosovo’s Producers Association/Producer and Scriptwriter, where she stressed the importance that art in general have to help Kosovo mark itself in the map. Shpend Qamili from the Office of the UN Development Coordinator in Kosovo shared with participants its involvement in making the short move “Home” which won a Bafta. He further elaborated the need of community to get together and promote the artists, as well as helping them financially. Eroll Bilibani who is the Executive Director of Dokufest, the most well-known short documentary festival in Kosvo, stressed the need to create a government scheme which will give funds to moviemakers in Kosovo, which will create movies to win in international festivals.

The salon was moderated by Dea Venhari-Dragaj, Dramatist, and the op-ed was written by Andi Emini, D4D Institute.
