Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue in the status quo: What next?

02.07.2020

On Tuesday, June 30, the Salon on the topic: “Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue in the status quo: What next?” was held.

Kosovo is in an unprecedented situation with the suspension and cancellation of the meeting, which positions Kosovo in a very critical turn. During the discussion of Tuesday’s Salon, it was emphasized that there is a lack of coordination of our strategic partners in relation to Kosovo, which does not convey a good message.

Kosovo in the position it is, has a destroyed image, there are no new recognitions, there are withdrawals of recognitions and there have been no new memberships in international mechanisms, which also conveys the message that Kosovo is powerless. All these emphasized problems will be an enormous burden on a Kosovo with a rather unconsolidated policy.

The panelists emphasized that a list of priorities should be set in accordance with international rules in order to solve the problems, and here perhaps we should look back to give solution in our internal problems. From what has been discussed during this Salon, it does not seem optimistic that within this year we will have any drastic move towards dialogue, in the sense that there will be any agreement or something like that.

Part of the panel in this Salon were: Donika Emini, Executive Director, CiviKos and Naim Rashiti, Executive Director, Balkans Policy Research Group (BPRG). The Salon was moderated by Eraldin Fazliu, Editor-in-Chief, Pristina Insight and the editorial will be written by Besnik Krasniqi, Journalist, Koha Ditore.

This Salon was supported by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Prishtina Office.
