Home Learning: How ready are we?

23.09.2020

The Covid-19 pandemic brought new and previously unexplored challenges to the teaching process. Teachers, students and parents faced the need to equate learning needs with technological innovations, as well as the many shortcomings in Kosovo schools to deal with unusual situations. In order to discuss this issue, on Tuesday, September 15, the D4D Institute held a Tuesday Salon with the topic: “Home Learning: How ready are we?“.

Representatives from the Union of Education, Science and Culture of the Republic of Kosovo, the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo and Edutask have called for mutual cooperation between institutions in order to organize and run the learning process in the best possible way in these unusual circumstances. Within the topic was also discussed the scenarios compiled by the Ministry of Education and Science for continuing education for the school year 2020/2021.

The lack of technical means for students and educational staff during the period of online teaching presented challenges for the smooth running of the learning process, but also created an overview of the situation and lack of technological equipment in schools, hoping that the Government of Kosovo will take steps to improving this phenomenon.

Keeping the mask, cleaning the hands according to the instructions and keeping the distance remain the main messages addressed to the society in general, and to the students, parents and teachers in particular, in order to successfully realize the learning process and maintain health.

Part of the panel in this salon were: Rrahman Jasharaj, President, Union of Education, Science and Culture; Merita Berisha, Department of Social Medicine, National Institute of Public Health and Bardha Qirezi, Education Expert, Executive Director EDUTASK. The salon was moderated by Gresa Statovci, Consultant for policy making in education, from which the editorial will be written.

This salon was realized with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Prishtina Office.
