Breakfast Briefing with councilors of the Municipal Assembly of Gjakova

Increased and improved communication between the Municipal Assembly councilors in the first place, and then between the Assembly and the municipal executive are the issues the officials of these two bodies of the Municipality of Gjakova should see as priorities for governing improvements within the Municipality. Such a conclusion came out of the breakfast briefing with the chiefs of political party groups in the Municipal Assembly of Gjakova.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss policies of the Municipality of Gjakova for the improvement of good government principles, the function of Municipal Assembly and the cooperation between political party groups to push forward projects that address the demands, concerns and needs of the citizens that they represent.

The chiefs of the political party groups that are in coalition at the Municipal Assembly declared their readiness, but also that of the municipal institutions, including that of the mayor of the Municipality to cooperate with all the representatives of the citizens at the Municipality. Meanwhile, the chiefs of the opposition political party groups emphasized the feeling of being left aside and over-voted by the governing collation parties and raised their concern for the inclusion of new policy points in the agenda of the Municipal Assembly sessions, without prior consultation with all the political parties represented at the Assembly and thus not respecting the work regulations.

Among the other topics of discussion with the chiefs of the political party groups represented at the Municipal Assembly of Gjakova, was also the relations between all the political parties at the Assembly, the work conditions within the Assembly, transparency and the communication between the bodies of the Municipal of Gjakova, as well as the treatment and implementation of citizen demands that relate with the municipal executive.

The Municipal Assembly councilors emphasized the need for improvement of work conditions, relation between the mayor and Municipal Assembly, and in special regard the relation Municipality – Citizens, for which they stated to be a necessity for the improvement of government and creation of the better conditions for development within the municipality.
