03.10.2017 D4D

On Tuesday, 3rd of October 2017 the Tuesday Salon was held with the topic: “Transparency and accountability of the steering council of University of Prishtina”

Opening remarks were delivered by: Arton Demhasaj, Executive Director, ÇOHU and Xhavit Rexhaj, Expert on education. Panelists stressed that politicization is one of the main problems faced by the University of Prishtina. Politics extends from the Steering Council, Senate, and so is distributed across all branches of UP up to the teaching. The Steering Council is politicized and as a result the UP does not function independently, is controlled and is directly dependent on politics. According to a survey, out of 300 professors who participated in the research, 50 of them come from political parties.

The salon was moderated by Rron Gjinovci, Executive Director, ORCA and the op-ed was written by Liridona Ibrahimi, Project manager, Balkan Policy Institute (IPOL).

This Salon is organized is part of the project financed by KFOS.
