Returnee policies: Are they enabling effective reintegration?

27.02.2018 D4D

On Tuesday, 27th of February 2018, the salon discussion with the topic of “Returnee policies: Are they enabling effective reintegration” was held.

The panel was composed of Alexander Seidl, regional coordinator for Western Balkans for DIMAK, and Plator Avdiu, researcher in KCSS. Throughout the salon, the panel discussed regarding the last wave of emigration in 2014/15, Kosovo’s policies related to labor mobility, and more specifically its returnee policies. Among other things, it was highlighted that policies that motivate emigrants to come back are more effective than policies that hinder people from migrating. Kosovo ought to tackle the root of the problem by understanding the reasons for the last wave of emigration and produce evidence-based policymaking.

This Salon was moderated by Gersi Gashi, D4D Institute and the editorial is written by Albert Ahmeti, Editor, Zëri Daily newspaper.

This Salon is supported by GIZ/DIMAK.
