What does Kosovo do for gifted persons?

21.03.2017 D4D

On Tuesday, 21st of March 2017, the Salon was held under the with the topic: “What does Kosovo do for gifted persons?”

Opening remarks were delivered by: Jusuf Thaçi, Director of ATOMI Institute who’s everyday job is to work closely and find children with high IQ and give them proper aftër-school education. These pupils/students have hard time adopting themselves in the class room since the school programs are not adopted for their needs. Uranik Begu, Executive Director, of Innovation Center Kosovo (ICK), mentioned that besides high IQ children we have a lot of innovative and talented youth which were able to win a NASA award. He stressed the importance of using their talent for a better good. Armend Shabani, Professor in Specialized Mathematics Gymnasium in Prishtina works directly with pupils who have shown high IQ and talent in mathematics. While on the other states this gymnasium is considered a state asset since from them you will have future engineers and mathematicians, this does not seem to impress the stakeholders.

The salon was moderated by Bardha Qirezi, Director for Academic Planning and Partnerships, Riinvest College, and the op-ed was written by Linda Abazi, Researcher, D4D Institute.
