The image of the civil society in Kosovo: do we have the right perception about the work of the sector?

25.10.2016 D4D

On October 25 the Tuesday salon was held under the topic: “The image of civil society in Kosovo: do we have a fair perception of the work of the sector?”

The informative and provocative opening was made by: Taulant Hoxha, Kosovar Civil Society Foundation who said that the image itself is a subjective category and the perception varies depending on who gives such a rating. Visare Gorani-Gashi, from the Swedish Embassy in Kosovo, said that civil society in Kosovo comes from being a bearer of all-inclusive commitment in response to the regime of the 1990s in a period of great support from foreign donors after 1999. Besim Nebiu, an expert in the field of civil society in Macedonia, noted that some think that NGOs are the ones that have embezzled civic activism, turning into an employment market that cares more to keep reports with the donor / employer than with the citizens .

The moderation was made by Visar Sutaj, Project Coordinator and Researcher at KDI, while the editorial was written by Shkelqim Hysenaj, President of Kosovo Journalists Association.

Editorial for this salon is written in the Albanian language can be read here.
