On Tuesday, the 30th of January, 2018 in Podujeva with the topic of “Do existing mechanisms for reintegration of returnees?”
Panelists in the salon were Ylber Salihu, officer for European Integrations, and Fadil Berisha, officer in the Center for Social Work. The panelists offered their viewpoints explaining that municipalities have minor competences and flexibility in treating the issue of returnees. With added centralization, there is a lack of policies that address the needs of returnees tailored for municipalities. This can be seen mostly from the grants that are offered for businesses, where priority fields are set in the national level.
Throughout the discussion, the audience hinted that the distribution of funds for businesses, and the lack of clear and correct information, is an issue that needs addressing. Incorrect information has steered returnees to think that they will gain more than what is actually offered.
