Does the Assembly represent kosovar society?

28.03.2017 D4D

On Tuesday, 28th of March 2017 the Salon was held under the topic: “Does the Assembly represent kosovar society?”

The informative and provocative opening were made by: Xhevahire Izmaku, MP from PDK , who said that Members of the Parliament legally represent the entire Republic of Kosovo, but how far they actually manage to do so it is impossible. So most of the issues that are raised are the ones who represent the local level from she comes from. Mytaher Haskuka, MP from VV, stressed that if we initially see the representation on the basis of society, we have non-representation of women in the Assembly. This is because women are 50% of the population and in the Assembly they represent only 30%. This continues with the representation of all cities and minorities. Teuta Haxhiu, MP from AAK stressed the importance of being transparent with the voter. The Assembly is a representative of the society as a whole and as such the MPs must be part of every discussion of the commissions that are part of. Blerim Grainca, MP from LDK said that we have the responsibility to our voters and their belief in us should reflect on our work. But personal responsibility is completely different from the collective one. Where the Assembly as Assembly did not perform even 20% of the working plan and as such is not representative of the society.
